UGANDA
Bwindi National Park
The highlight of any primate safari in Uganda, the high-altitude bamboo forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park are home to roughly half of the world’s remaining population of mountain gorillas.
Kibale National Park
There are two large habituated chimpanzee communities in this park where ancient giant trees provide a majestic canopy for a profusion of rainforest life. You will get to accompany conservationists on their daily activities and observe chimps de-nesting in the early morning.
GABON
Loango National Park
The draw here is tracking western lowland gorillas, but there's more than just primates to see. On this wild and unspoiled coastline, elephants walk the beaches and hippos can be seen surfing the waves to shore.
CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC
Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve
Unlike their mountain-dwelling cousins, you can spot these western lowland gorillas in the tree line not far above the ground. Local Pygmy trackers will also help you find elephant, buffalo, and rare bongo antelope roaming Dzanga-Sangha's open forest clearings.
