Director

Shem Compion has been travelling across Africa for over 22 years. Firstly as a photographer, and in recent years with his family. Professionally, he uses his intricate knowledge of travel in Africa, its wildlife and fantastic locations to give his guests the best insight into Africa you can get. Shem runs the daily operations of Nurture Africa, bringing his extensive travel, logistics and operations experience into helping the team create exceptional family experiences across Africa. Shem and his wife Zendré travel broadly across the continent - sharing their own love for travel with their 2 children, whilst nurturing them about all this great continent has to offer them and how to respect it.

General Manager

Janet has a an insatiable wanderlust and has travelled extensively throughout Africa and the world. She started her career working for international hotel chains both locally and abroad. A nature lover at heart, Janet later qualified as a nature and trails guide and moved from large hotels to the more intimate safari industry. This combined experience in the hospitality industry has given her invaluable insight into what makes a safari experience truly special. Janet left the operations side of the industry to spend more time with her family and she now invests her energy into making sure she helps others experience the thrill of travelling to Africa. Known as “the matriarch” in the office, Janet will nurture even the first time safari-goer through a trip of a life time. Her professional motto has remained the same throughout her journey and that is, to exceed expectations.

Safari Specialist

Minette is a nature enthusiast who grew up on a nature farm outside Pretoria. Her love for nature, wildlife, and travel led her to join our company in 2008, where she has been an integral member of the team ever since. In addition to being a Safari Specialist, Minette manages all operations and logistics in the office. She brings her wealth of experience and passion for travel to create unforgettable family travel experiences across Africa. Minette has been fortunate enough to travel to various destinations across the continent, including the Masai Mara, the Okavango Delta, Chobe, Zambia, and the Sabi Sands. When she is not busy with office administration or tour management, you can find her exploring the great outdoors on her mountain bike or with her running shoes.

Safari Specialist

Angelica grew up in South Africa, has been travelling across South Africa since she can remember and completed her studies in Tourism Management. She has always been very passionate about travelling and exploring and is a big fan of safaris. Angelica is a Nurture Africa specialist, she is well-travelled in Africa with experience in South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, and Kenya. Her favourite place is MashatuGame Reserve in Botswana. As a specialist she has been organising safaris since 2016 and loves sharing her love and knowledge of Africa with travellers!

Her passion to assist others in wilderness areas, since 2017, led her to volunteer on environmental education programme, within the Northern Tuli Game Reserve, where Mashatu Game Reserve is located. Angelica became an integral part of the team, teaching photography to over a hundred children who live on the outskirts of the reserves, some of who are now working directly within the Northern Tuli reserves as a result of their interaction with the environmental education programme.

Angelica, alongside a team of experienced directors and advisors have now established their very own environmental education programme called - Bana ba Bobirwa.

BbB aims for the children who live in the communities around the reserve to be wholly inspired to strive to achieve their utmost potential, so that their enthusiasm and new ideas are shared with their families and communities. This in turn fosters acceptance and interest from more local people to be involved in conservation of their natural environment and tourism in the area.

Social Media & Marketing Manager

Rebecca our Media and Marketing Manager, has a passion for wildlife and conservation that runs deep. Growing up in the Northern Tuli Game Reserve in Botswana, she was immersed in the beauty of nature from a young age. Her love for all things wild is matched by her talent for photography. She studied at African Bush Training and obtained a FGASA qualifications and an International Diploma in Professional Photography. Rebecca brings her wealth of experience and creativity to Nurture Africa Safaris, where she manages our social media, marketing, and content. Her love for nature shines through in everything she does, and she is dedicated to sharing the beauty and wonder of Africa with families who want to experience it first-hand. As the youngest member of our team, Rebecca brings a fresh perspective and a passion for exploring new and exciting travel destinations.
