Itinerary
Day 1 – 3: Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel
Positioned on the beautiful Atlantic beachfront, the Radisson Blue Waterfront Hotel affords guests an excellent gateway to Cape Town. With complimentary shuttles to the popular shopping and entertainment destinations and the V&A Waterfront. You have easy access to activities suitable for the whole family. The Cape Town Aquarium is a fascinating outing for young and old with over 350 marine species to see. With adorable African penguins and a walkthrough tunnel for a stunning underwater perspective, the aquarium delivers on both marine education and family fun. But perhaps the best part for groups with young kids is watching the sharks, rays and turtles being fed their lunch in the two million-litre I&J Predator Exhibit. For cultural immersion, head on over to the Silo District at the V&A Waterfront, home to the biggest and best art museum in Africa, the Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa). A former grain silo, this eight-storey space was redesigned by British architects Heatherwick Studio, turning it into South Africa’s very own Tate Modern. Being right on the sea, the V&A Waterfront is also the perfect springboard for harbour tours, sunset sailing and a ferry trip out to the World Heritage site, Robben Island, where former South African president and liberator Nelson Mandela was jailed for 18 years. And of course, no visit to Cape Town is complete without a cable-car trip to the glorious summit of Table Mountain with its panoramic views!
Day 3 – 5: Fly to Lion Sands Tinga Lodge in Kruger National Park
Next up on your itinerary is Lion Sands, a private game reserve set idyllically on the banks of the Sabie River which crosses the breadth of the Kruger National Park. Tinga Lodge features nine gorgeous suites all occupying private spots along the river and the two-bedroom Hi’Nkweni Villa with its own swimming pool and furnished deck. Guests at Hi’Nkweni also have a dedicated hospitality and field guide team plus their own 4×4 vehicle for a truly exclusive safari experience. Leopards are a dime a dozen here, so you’re all but guaranteed magnificent sightings of this ambush predator on your twice-daily game drives with both a tracker and guide. The main lodge has tasteful amenities that include a guest lounge, indoor dining area, boma and an expansive deck ideal for sitting quietly and spotting birdlife after breakfast. With a well-stocked wine cellar, private tastings and dinners can be arranged, or you can shoot over to the wellness spa for some special pampering while the children are kept busy at the Mack & Madi Kids’ Adventure Explorers programme.
