Itinerary

Day 1 - 4: Fly to Somalisa in Hwange National Park

Nestled under a grove of acacia trees on the edge of a seasonal floodplain in Hwange National Park is award-winning tented camp, Somalisa. Don’t be surprised to see large families of elephants saunter across the golden plains to visit the camp’s watering hole for a drink and a splash. You will be lavishly accommodated in one of two spacious family tents with interleading walkways between the ensuite rooms. With experienced safari guides able to expertly tailor activities to the age of your children, camp activities and excursions are always a fun and informative time for all. From game drives to twilight boat cruises, nature walks, birdwatching, cultural arts and cooking classes, Somalisa has everything to delight you and your family.

Day 4 – 8: Fly to Nyamatusi Mahogany in Mana Pools National Park

One of the last pioneer parks lying in the Great Rift valley, Nyamatusi Mahogany Camp in Mana Pools Game Reserve offers the consummate luxury safari experience for families. Solar-powered and built from all-natural materials, your tented suite sits in the shade of ancient mahogany trees with uninterrupted views of the Zambezi River, floodplain and escarpment beyond. Entertainment options for the whole family include exploring Mana Pools by boat, guided walking safaris, twice-daily game drives and African board games. You might even find yourself singing and dancing around a glowing campfire. For some celestial fun, stargazing from the camp is unparalleled and will kindle an infinite sense of wonder in adults and children alike.

Day 8 – 10: Fly to Victoria Falls River Lodge in Zambezi National Park

Families visiting Victoria Falls River Lodge can enjoy the luxury of a thatched tented suite with its own private deck and plunge pool overlooking the life-giving Zambezi River. Lodge activities include morning and evening game drives in search of big game like elephant and lion, idyllic river cruises and a guided tour of the Victoria Falls with its impressive spray, mist and rainbows. For the wild-at-heart, there are copious adrenaline activities to enjoy in the area such as hair-raising bungee jumps over the gorge, bridge swings and slides, white-water rafting, helicopter rides or a refreshing dip in Devil’s Pool right at the edge of the Falls! For a dose of local culture, it’s possible to explore a traditional village in the town of Victoria Falls, where you can meet and interact with locals to see how rural Zimbabweans live. Evoking the nostalgia of a bygone era, another optional activity is to take a slow ride on a steam train over the Victoria Falls Bridge and then out to the Jafuta Siding. This locomotive experience is a unique way to soak up your surroundings and includes a silver-service meal of four courses.
